I learned to sew with my mother. I was 10. My sister and I chose the patterns and fabrics; my mother did the sewing. It was a tradition passed down from my grandmother, whom I never knew.<\/p>\n

We spread the fabric across the living room floor, cut it right there, and helped my mother at every step. There was no dedicated sewing space but, on that fabric covered floor, my first creative sparks were born. Sparks that would one day make me a fashion designer, and later, a denim upcycler;)<\/p>\n

My mother\u2019s sewing machine became mine. The kitchen table became my creative space.<\/p>\n

A studio is not just a place where you make things. It\u2019s a place that transforms you, that makes you feel, reflect, and imagine. A space that creates experiences.<\/p>\n

This space can be vast and bright. Sometimes chaotic and cluttered. And sometimes, it almost disappears, fragile under the weight of daily life.<\/p>\n

At the start of this year, I wanted to shine a light on our creative spaces. Last week, I shared mine. (If you missed it, access the story here)<\/a><\/span><\/strong>. This week, I\u2019m sharing 10 sewing studios from our Facebook community<\/strong><\/a><\/span>. <\/p>\n

\u201cHow I organise my fabrics. All the denim is on the right shelving, with lightest to darkest as you move down through the suitcases. The suitcases on the left are coloured fabrics and projects yet to be done. In the process of painting more suitcases to make finding my colours easier. What makes these studios special isn\u2019t their size or setup, but the intention behind them. Whether it\u2019s a full basement, a sewing shed, or even a Sewing tool chest<\/strong> <\/a><\/span>(yes, that might be the tiniest studio I\u2019ve ever worked from), these spaces become happy places because they hold our curiosity, our patience, and our desire to create.<\/p>\n

We don\u2019t wait for space to create, we create space by creating.<\/p>\n
